Duane Starr, DMD, DABOI, HHFAID

Dr. Starr is a Clinical Site Supervisor  for Jacksonville University’s Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program and oversees his residents at our Prineville Or location.

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Starr has lived in Oregon for over 50 years. Dr. Starr graduated Lakeridge High School in 1976 and attended both The University of Portland and Portland State University in preparation for the OHSU School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1984. Post-graduation, Dr. Starr entered private practice gaining additional experience and knowledge before purchasing a General Dentistry and Oral Surgery Practice in SE Portland where he treated and cared for many surgical and restorative dental implant patients. Due to his extensive specialized training in oral implantology and implant dentistry,  Dr. Starr was one of few dentists who were able to care for surgical and restorative dental implant patients from start to finish all in one office. During this time, Dr. Starr became involved with the local study club, focusing primarily on Dental Implants and Tucker Cast Gold technique while gaining extensive knowledge through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), a major source for education in implant dentistry. Today Dr. Starr is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI).

After leaving Portland, Dr. Starr and his wife relocated to Prineville OR. and purchased a historic building transforming it into a beautiful, state of the art dental practice with the latest dental equipment technology.

In his spare time, Dr. Starr loves to race and is part owner of Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley, OR. When not behind the wheel, Dr. Starr and his wife Valerie raise Alpacas where they currently provide a home on their property to 40 of these wonderful animals.
