Surgical and restorative dental implants is a highly skilled, surgical procedure due to the placement of a dental implant which requires precision and accuracy. Residents use 3D CT scan images of the dental implant site to provide patients with everything from an advanced technical surgical treatment plan to the most optimal placement of their implant. This process ensures our patients the best aesthetic results in their final dental implant restoration. Our advanced skills and technology allow for an exceedingly accurate assessment of the bone available to place the dental implant which in turn determines if bone grafting is needed. The goal is to preserve healthy bone levels over an extended period of time.
With various ways dental implants can be utilized to restore missing teeth, our residents and clinical directors develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Immediate Implants
You may be a candidate for a dental implant placed the same day as your tooth extraction, but only after a thorough anatomical diagnosis and assessment to ensure a successful, long-lasting dental implant.
Standard Implant Placement
Successful surgical and restorative dental implant treatments often require a multi-step surgical process. Initially, the tooth is removed and a bone graft is placed to help preserve adequate bone in order to support the implant. The dental implant is carefully placed only after successful healing. After the dental implant integrates to the bone, the implant is uncovered and restored.
Implant-Supported Dentures
As a middle ground option between a conventional denture and advanced full-arch dental implants, implant-supported dentures not only increase the quality of dentures, but also their stability and function.
By placing removable dentures on two or more dental implants, patients can attain an increased level of stability.
Supplementary Procedures
Bone grafting, sinus lifts, IV conscious sedation, platelet-rich plasma and the use of sterile technique are all advanced/highly skilled surgical procedures that need to be performed by a qualified dental implant specialist which drastically increases the overall success rate of an oral dental implant surgery.
The most common reason for surgical and restorative dental implant failure is inadequate placement, or poor bone quality. The skills needed to address poor bone quality are not learned in dental school and only acquired with advanced surgical training.
